How to Know God

Knowing God is actually defined as eternal life and is our highest priority.

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
John 17:3

Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.
Philippians 3:8

We all have a sin problem that separates us from God.

For our transgressions are multiplied before You, And our sins testify against us; For our transgressions are with us, And as for our iniquities, we know them ...
Isaiah 59:12

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God ...
Romans 3:23

God loves us and gave us the remedy for our sin.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

You can know God right now by simply calling out to Him, opening up your heart, and receiving Him as your personal Lord and Savior.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:13

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3:20

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name ... John 1:12

Here is a suggested prayer to begin a personal relationship with God and have assurance that your sins have been forgiven:

Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and ask for Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins on the cross and that You rose again for my justification. I ask You to come into my heart right now and be my personal Lord and Savior. Thank You for Your promise that if we confess our sins, that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Help me now, by the power of Your Holy Spirit to live a life that is pleasing to you.

If you prayed the prayer above, you can have assurance of eternal life.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life."
John 5:24

How to Grow in God

Here are a few steps that will help you to grow in your new relationship with God:

PRAY—We need daily fellowship with God, so we can get to know Him more, and receive His guidance and strength.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

READ the BIBLE—We need Spiritual food to grow and to know the truth that sets us free.

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby ...
1 Peter 2:2

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
John 8:31-32

FELLOWSHIP—We need godly friends to encourage us and help us to grow.

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24-25

WITNESS—We need to share our faith and testimony with others.

And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:15
